Navigating the India data centre lifecycle

10 min read

India is one of the world’s fastest expanding and most dynamic markets with an increasingly tech savvy consumer base.

Set against this back-drop,
the Mace-ANAROCK report, ‘Navigating the India data centre lifecycle’, examines the opportunity for growth as the global pandemic continues to fuel a surging demand for cloud services.

It’s fair to say that India has been experiencing a digital revolution over the past decade, due to changing consumer habits and an increase in online services and social networking.

This year, digital interactions shot through the roof as individuals and businesses in the country adjusted to social distancing and lockdown restrictions, by extension prompting the demand for data centre services to soar.

What does the growing need for cloud services mean for global players in the data centre space, who want to capitalise on the opportunity for growth in India?

Co-authored with Mace’s strategic partner in India, ANAROCK, the report evaluates trends in the Indian market and offers a perspective on the data centre lifecycle from investment to exit. Through research and input from experts with long-standing experience in delivering data centres for blue-chip technology companies, each stage of the lifecycle is explored in the local context.

While the potential for growth is obvious, India faces its own complexities. The current preference for vertical data centres built in large cities stands in contrast to the European model favouring hyperscalers.

Still, it is safe to assume that as the Indian market digitally matures, international best practice around how to leverage innovation to increase productivity, from the design through to the build and operate stages, will be a game-changer for project delivery.
