Mace grows to £2bn turnover
In 2013 Mace set out its ambition to become a £2bn turnover company by 2020. Thanks to the support of our clients, our supply chain partners, and our people we have grown at an exceptional rate and today can announce that we have achieved £2bn two years early. This is a magnificent achievement and one which we are proud of.
In the last five years, our turnover has doubled with a third now coming from international activities, we have become a top 10 UK contractor, built a reputation as a world-leading international programme and project manager and remained profitable every year.
Mace’s historic growth and world-class reputation were particularly enhanced by winning and delivering the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of CLM and Western Europe’s tallest building The Shard.
Over the last few years, we have been privileged to be involved in some of the most complex, challenging and recognisable projects across the globe including Landmark 81 in Vietnam, Birmingham New Street Station, Tate Modern’s Switch House in London, Manchester Town Hall, Dubai Expo 2020, Porsche’s North American Headquarters and the 2019 Pan-American Games in Peru.
The future
Earlier this year, we published details of our 2022 Strategy which built on the previous targets we had set, providing exciting new opportunities for our people, ensuring we deliver innovative solutions and service excellence for our clients while remaining a resilient and profitable business.
By 2022 we will continue to increase our focus on delivering sustainable margins of at least 2.5% to further strengthen our balance sheet. We will also invest £350m in R&D activities to increase productivity and become more efficient.
We plan to deliver a more balanced return from consultancy and construction projects to make us more resilient to market fluctuations.
Our development management offer will be expanded. We plan to significantly grow our Consultancy business by securing major infrastructure projects and framework agreements globally. Our Construction business will continue to deliver the world’s most complex projects while managing risks and expanding the amount of construction management work we undertake. Our facilities management business, Macro, will continue its international expansion.
Mark Reynolds, Chief Executive of Mace said:
“Over the past 28 years, Mace has been on an amazing journey. We have seen the market change, we have seen great achievements and admittedly learnt some lessons along the way. Our company mission is to continuously pursue a better way which has helped us to grow and deliver on our promises.
I am proud to say we have reached £2bn turnover, but more importantly, I am proud to say that we have the best people, who make up the best teams on some of the best projects in the world.
On behalf of the Mace Group Board, I want to thank all of our clients who have supported us on our journey and have trusted us to deliver on their vision.”
